When you move to a new house some feel homesick even though they are in their ‘home’ this is because you don’t feel comfortable in the house you are living in. Here are a few tips to turn your house into your home.
1. Childhood keepsakes
For many, our childhood house/apartment is where we feel most at home. This is due to it being the first place we felt/were safe and loved. Now you can’t take your old place with you to your new house. But what you can do is hang up some of your childhood pictures in your new house or bring something of value to your new home. This could be some old family board games that bring back good memories, a pillow, a throw, a teddy, or anything that carries warming energy of where they came from.
2. Clean is the dream
You know the phrase “out of sight out of mind.” Well the same logic applies to your home. If you are in a messy environment, you will feel out of place. By organizing and cleaning on a regular basis, you are helping yourself become relaxed and zen. Wash your sheets regularly, not just because it’s hygienic but also because it will help you feel better. Clear the clutter before it piles and becomes stressful.
3. Spa home
The spa is a place that is designed to make you feel relaxed, Zen and calm. So take some pages out of their book. Candles, aromatherapy diffusers and warm lighting are some examples of things that can be added to your house to make it a place where you feel relaxed and at home.
4. Fabrics
By incorporating different cozy fabrics and textures, you make your home a place where you can relax. This is because you are making it a place that you can mess things up. You don’t want a house where you can’t touch anything out of fear of messing things up, do you? Add a rug or blanket for warmth, cozy visual and feeling.
Good luck in your quest of turning your house into your home. Let us know how you get on!
